Michigan Counties with programs that meet or exceed The Battering Intervention Standards For The State of Michigan Programs with a * indicate Provisional Compliance pending training documentation. The Michigan Standards require 20 hours a year for each facilitator that runs groups. You can use many training options for this, including BISC-MI conference and trainings that are DV related. (As a sidenote, the BISC-MI conference will be Oct. 25-27 this year, so save that date if you intend to attend this; it will be offered virtually and in person, in Ann Arbor again). The 20 hours of training can be obtained through a combination of internal and external sources, but a minimum of 10 hours must be obtained externally. Further, this training cannot consist of self-teaching by individual use of books or tapes. The BIP provider must document any trainings in the BIPSCC application. Additional ideas for training or peer supervision hours your facilitators can obtain include trainings that BISC-MI advertises, as well as the weekly calls they host.
